Every year around the world, an event to raise awareness about Alzheimer related dementia takes place. World Alzheimer’s Day 2018 – 21st September helps to not only raise awareness but reduce the stigma surrounding the disease.
What is Alzheimer’s?
Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease. It can occur at any age although it is more common in middle and old age. Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia. Typically, Alzheimer’s accounts for up to 80% of dementia cases. It can cause problems with memory, thinking and behaviour. While the disease starts to develop slowly, it can gradually get worse over time. It can become so severe that it affects daily tasks.
There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s.

Hold a fundraiser
Your team can hold a fundraising event that not only helps to raise awareness of dementia on World Alzheimer’s Day 2018 – 21st September.
